In Arena (have not verified outside of Arena), the Amethyst Paragon trait “Amethyst Attunement” causes all spell gems to only have 1 charge left, not just ethereal spell gems as the description states. This persists to future matches, so if your team is cast-oriented and faces an Amethyst Paragon early on, you are likely hosed.
Replication: Face Amethyst Paragon in Arena, has happened 3 times so far. Fortunately my teams are not usually too dependent on their spell gems.
