Crash when loading save after updating to 2.0.10

I just updated to 2.0.10 and my main save file crashes when loading. I can’t seem to copy/paste the message from the dialog box that pops up on my phone so i’ve typed it up. I’m assuming the exact number of # isn’t critical to the error message.

a whole lot of this #####
FATAL ERROR in
action number 1
of Create Event
for object obj_controller:

Push :: Execution Error - Variable Index [424,0] out
of range [424,-1] - -5.mat(100465,13568000)
at gml_Script_scr_CreateMaterial

####(times a million)

stack frame is
gml_Script_scr_CreateMaterial (line 0)
gml_Script_load_Item
gml_Script_scr_LoadGame
gml_Object_obj_controller_Create_0

The crash occurs any time i try to load my main save (level 106 Life mage), loading other save files works fine.

Running on Android, game version 2.0.10

I’d post the save file, but I’m not sure how to find it on my phone.

Edit: Thanks for the rapid response! This is an opportune time to try out a different mage class!

This is happening to a lot of people, but of course it’s not happening to me. I’m going to upload a potential fix right now - hopefully it’ll work.

I’m very sorry about this!

Any luck with the new version? I am still unable to reproduce the crash so I am looking for someone to see if it’s fixed

Just updated and I’m getting the same crash with an identical error report.

I am getting the same error. I loaded a new game in a different slot though, and I’m really digging the update. Can’t wait to play it on my higher level save : )

Just uploaded a new fix that should be available in an hour or so. Hopefully this one does the trick.

Android 5, Galaxy S5, just grabbed the latest update (11:41 PM CST). Still crashes immediately upon loading. Details in a sec. Sorry! Same error message nearly exactly as before. PM me if I can help gather data or help debug. Curiously, I can load the level 21 nature mage game which I haven’t used in a few weeks without issue, but the level ~87 I’ve been grinding on daily crashes. Heading to bed but will check in first thing tomorrow.

Still crashing after the update, but the error message has changed. Here’s what I got:

########

Yep, I’m getting that new exciting error code posted above. Progress, right?

Do any of you have a rooted device? I am going to need someone to send me their save file so I can figure this out, but you need to have a rooted device to access your save file. If you’re rooted, let me know and I’ll explain how to send the save file.

Once again, I’m very sorry about this, everyone. It’s puzzling because it’s not crashing on any of my devices or save files, yet it’s crashing for pretty much everyone else.

Edit: Just uploaded v2.0.11. Once again, I am not sure if this is going to help anything but it’s worth a try. If anyone could report back with the results that would be great.

I do not have a rooted device. However, I am also on a Samsung Galaxy S5. I am running Android 4.4.4.

I’ll snag the update that you just posted as soon as it pops up on google play. I imagine that stuff like this is way more frustrating for the developer than it is for the players, so cheers on all of your hard work and fantastic support!

Android 5, Galaxy S5, Siralim 2.0.10.
+1 thanks for the awesome support. I’m not rooted, but I have the ADB drivers installed, along with Odin and Samsung Kies, so I’ll try to grab my file. I just updated Siralim again (9:03 AM CST) and the crash persists. Sorry!

2.0.11 isn’t available quite yet since Google takes some time to process the file. Should be any minute now though, so hopefully that fixes it.

If you could send me your save file though, that would be a huge help! Here’s how:

Using a file explorer app:

  1. Browse to \data\data\com.thylacinestudios.siralim\files.
  2. In this folder you’ll see a bunch of files - we’re interested in the files that end in “.ini”, such as Siralim2.ini. The “2” means it’s the second save slot on the list when you continue the game.
  3. E-mail this file to me at zack@thylacinestudios.com.

Android 5, Galaxy S5, Siralim 2.0.10.

I’m not rooted, making it tough to grab those files. Per http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13006315/how-to-access-data-data-folder-in-android-device, I installed the drivers, ran adb devices to make sure it showed up, enabled USB debugging, opened an ADB shell, yet run into errors.

1|shell@kltevzw:/ $ run-as com.thylacinestudios.siralim
run-as com.thylacinestudios.siralim
run-as: Package ‘com.thylacinestudios.siralim’ is unknown

Merely browsing to the directory also fails:
shell@kltevzw:/ $ ls /data/data/com.thylacinestudios.siralim/files
opendir failed, Permission denied

I’ll keep trying to get the *.ini files.

I updated to 2.0.11, but now I’m back to the first error : (

Alright, think I finally figured it out. It had to do with a certain crafting material that you all have on your files, but it’s probably a fairly rare one so most people will only find it after playing for a while. That’s why your relatively new files work properly.

I’m uploading a new version, 2.0.12 which should hopefully fix this finally.

Sorry for the back-to-back-to-back-to-back updates.

Edit: Yes, it’s the Crippling Ointment. So I’m 99.9% sure this fix will solve the problem.

Fixed for me after updating! Thank you!

Awesome! Thanks for letting me know. I’m going to be releasing one more bugfix patch today and then I’ll leave everyone’s bandwidth alone for a bit.

Yep, that fixed it! Thanks for working so hard on this. It’s great to see a developer with your level of dedication.

Finally got a chance to sit back down and try the more recent update. This patch fixed it for me as well. You’re awesome!
