How can I rename zero creatures?

There could be a check on
“I want to rename one of my creatures”
to prevent the game from crashing when I press E on selecting to rename a nonexistent creature.

it shouldn’t be possible to have 0 creatures in the first place

Select an empty stable group to take with you.

I know, I’m saying that the check should be there and not everywhere else

There should also be a check on breeding then.

Have only two creatures in your party and breed those.
You can’t hatch the egg with items or realms now since you have zero creatures.

Better have cores or creatures in the stable or else.

You need to be able to get 0 creatures. Otherwise it is very frustrating to build teams having to leave 1 creature, add a creature then go delete the last one.

Using a 0 creature team in the stable I can start building a new team by just loading the empty team from the stables…

Alright, what if the stable menu prevented the player from leaving without having at least one creature in the team.

So you could clear out your team, but have to have at least one creature before exiting.

That leaves the warlord having the option to swap stable groups for zero creatures.

I really shouldn’t be able to do these things with zero creatures.
Challenge sigils, equip artifacts, challenge the gods, equip spell gems, etc.
