I’m not sure if I’m missing something - I’ve honestly never tried using them, but I feel like shields are underwhelming (barring a few things like sorceress scaling). The main issue is simply the fact it only has one defense! Spending a slot you can use on attack or versatile HP and Luck to defend from 20% of enemies, though you can admittedly cover a weakness with it or enchant in the holes, just seems a bit unappealing. It’s possible they’re actually amazing - the value of defense they have -is- quite a lot; but it just seems too focused on one defense. I think making it have the 3 other non-weak defenses at a smaller value might make them more interesting to use; so a shield may have 100, 25, 25, 25, and 0 defenses, the 0 being the element the shield’s main defense is weak to. It’s possible the new crafting may fix this, though, as well as it may just be me missing out on something big; let me know!
You bring up a very good point. I think the most elegant solution would be to remove the different types of shields and just make the shield primary stat be “All Defenses” at a reduced rate. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll include that change in the crafting overhaul.
